Smart kits were distributed at Saksham School on 31st May 2017. The visually impaired persons who received the smart kits were also given 3 days training on using smartphones and smart canes by Mr. Afzal (Assistive Technology Specialist working at Saksham) for their independent living and mobility.

Training Workshop in Kashmir

A workshop was conducted on 24th May 2017 at Kashmir University which was attended by 91 persons (76 end users and 15 volunteers from special cell of Kashmir University). The workshop was about smart cane and other technology solutions focussing Independent Living and Education.

RECREATION & INCLUSION

Audio described Movies

Saksham organized a workshop on the subject of the audio description and adding subtitles for making movies accessible for the persons with blindness and hearing disabilities. The workshop was followed by the screening of the audio described and subtitled version of the movie Dangal on 6th May 2017 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The event was organised in collaboration with UNESCO and Directorate of Films, Government of India.

About Us

The Saksham Trust was established in 2003 under the leadership of Mr. Dipendra Manocha and Ms. Rummi K. Seth, with the sole purpose of empowering persons with blindness. It plays a key role in advocacy and act as a service provider in the field of rehabilitation, education, training and assistive technology. In addition to a school for children with visual impairment and multiple disabilities, it runs a distribution center of assistive aids and appliances for education, mobility and independent living.
